Dog With Urinary Tract Problems?

My 1,5 year old rat terrier likes to napping beside me on the couch. Once in a while I sudden smell of urine, and she will get up quickly and lick her bottom. But there’s a never a wet spot. She’s housebroken as well and goes out regularly. It can be that dogs can have leakage problems or she has urinary tract problems?  She looks perfectly healthy otherwise.

some dogs can start to leak urine after being spayed.. There is medication that can help. You need to contact your vet to rule out a urinary tract infection first then discuss your options

  2. I have a dog right now who has just been diagnosed with bladder stones… she acted much like that. The doctor said my breed was not prone to stones but that Jack Russels are, I wonder if the Rat Terries has any similarities in susceptabilty?

Take her to the vet for a urinalysis. That’s what I would do.

  3. Well my dog, who’s about 8 years old, has some urinary issues. And yes, I believe that dogs can have leakage problems, as he has had some, but it’s on/off and usually only when he has to go really bad.

  4. Add Vitamin C for pets made by Halo at specialty pet stores or online and a teaspoon apple cider vinegar from health food stores, not supermarkets. Works wonders for urinary problems. Use it on my cats daily.

A old man told me to put 1/4 cup of cranberry juice to a quart of water and "KEEP IT COOL" the dog will drink it. I’ve tried this and it helps. One thing is, they will pee a lot for the first day. But, it helps urinary problems in dogs.
