Extremely Gassy Dog?

Hello, My male Rottweiler has the worst gas! It is so bad that we must leave the room or put a fan on the dog, it’s like that every night! I wonder if anyone has any home remedies or if anyone knows of drugs that can help this problem.  Dog has Addison’s disease, which I think is one of deffiency hormone cortisol in the adrenal glands affecting his kidney. I do not know if this would contribute to the dog gas problem, but it is medicated daily with prednisone. Any advice or ideas on how to stop dog gas would be greatly appreciated! Thank.

You can not eat cheap food. Try Nutro dry food. You can feed less because of the protein. It’s all economic burdens that ferment in the intestine that cause gas.

I have no remedies, but it is normal, it could be his diet. Have you changed his food recently? They usually take a few weeks to adjust to a new brand of food. My dogs get gas really bad too and they eat the same thing every day.

  10. Well Prednisone can cause stomach upset and Addison’s disease the, you could see vomiting, diarrhea and nausea, I think it’s probably a combination of the two that are causing your problems Gas:) It has been checked for parasites? It could be his food he eats. Usually, a high quality kibble to get rid of this problem. Is your dog a special diet for Addison’s disease?

I would consult your vet and perhaps change your dog’s diet. Look for a good food that does not have fillers, byproducts or allergens. . as wheat. corn or soybeans. Nutro is not a very good food. . such as payroll and allergens that may cause gas. Upgrade to a better food that isn’t sold at a huge chain like Petsmart PetStore or grocery store. Do your homework. . .

The dose of prednisone may be too low or not be the right med for him. Addison causes intestinal problems, but should not happen if drugs are right. In his cortisol was tested since the start of prednisone?
