Is There an Nautural Way to Kill Dog Mites?
It seems the only thing that kills my dog’s mites are shot of Ivermectin, and it means I need to go to her vet office once a week. I cant really afford to spend (shot, partial Dr. visit) a wk. doing that. Thanks for all your help. Oh yeah she is about 50lbs. if that helps…thanks again.
Treating ear mites in a pet, which are more common in cats than in dogs, requires a visit to the veterinarian who will do an ear cytology to view the debris in the ear under a microscope. I actually ordered Ivermectin on the internet. It comes in a bottle that requires a syringe, but at the advice of the breeder that I purchased the dog from, I purchased a syringe at Farm and Fleet. I only use the syringe to get the medicine out of the bottle and then I squirted it into her mouth. He also recommended that I put iodine on the infected areas one time per day. The cost in all was about $45. Good luck.
No if your dog has demodex mange you need to have the shots and on alternating weeks a dip type bath for the dog until this is cured.
This is an auto immune response and it can come back at any time. Stress can trigger it and your dog may have many outbreaks in life or only one. No one can predict what will happen.
There is not any effective home treatments for this and it require vet care and careful monitering. If you can not afford to treat this look at placing the dog with a rescue or someone who can provide care for it.
No. But dogs can take Ivomec orally. A small bottle will cost as much as one shot. It still should be done under the supervision of your vet. Ask him/her about it.
Our dog has demodectic mange, so we went through the dips with him, 6 dips and 2 skin scrapings to be exact…consequently, it came right back.
It’s really caused by a compromised immune system and the quality of food can be an issue. The 2 times that our dog got it was when we left him w/the sitter for 3 days. Our vet said that the stress probably comprimised his immune system, rather than his diet. He is a 10lb chihuahua mix and we only feel him All Life Stages Canidae.
Sooo, I say all that to say, after the first treatment cured it and it came back, we used Goodwinol Ointment the 2nd go around. Worked wonders! We only applied it to the one bald spot and it’s gone. So now, that’s the only method we use when his mites become active! Hope this helps!
