It seems the only thing that kills my dog’s mites are shot of Ivermectin, and it means I need to go to her vet office once a week. I cant really afford to spend (shot, partial Dr. visit) a wk. doing that. Thanks for all your help. Oh yeah she is about 50lbs. if that helps…thanks again. (more…)
I found a stray dog (mix of llasa apso/poodle/terrier!!!) in a rubbish bin, almost 1,5 years ago. He was in a terrible shape, no hair, and stank to high heaven. The first vet I took him to, diagnosed mange (demodex) so I did the treatment (dips) for 12 weeks, and then he tested negative.
But 2 months ago I tried a different vet, as I wasn’t so happy with the other one. He found that the dog has Leishmaniasis, so I am treating with Allopurinol.
He also has mange again, which apparently is because his immune system is not working properly.
He also has infected paws, the antibiotics do not seem to be improving the condition much. (more…)
My cat has been licking her back legs like crazy lately and her fur is noticably thinner and shorter around her back legs now. She doesn’t have fleas. Coud this just be dry skin and if so do you think adding a little vegetable oil to her food will help. She terrified of the vet and I hate to put her through a visit if I don’t have to. Thanks! I just adopted a kitten an she has an upper respiratory infection and a cold. I am giving her proper medicine and keeping her away from my other cats, but can my dog catch the viruses from her also? Please don’t just tell me to call my vet, they are closed now and I was looking for an answer ASAP. (more…)
My dog usually is given Methio-Form by the vet for urinary tract infections. He has to stay on this to prevent infections. Has anyone ever tried giving Apple Cider Vinegar pills instead? I’m told Metho-Form is similar to ACV pills, but is a lot more expensive than something I could buy over the counter, like vinegar pills. Any help? Thanks… (more…)
Recently, we took my yellow lab to the vet and I was perplexed. The vet squeezed my dogs anal glands. He said she was full and they really needed to be done. What is this and why should it be done? What causes a build up of “gunk” in her anal glands? What is the “gunk”?
Well, I didn’t mean that I did it myself. I wouldn’t do it. I let the vet do it. I didn’t know anything about it until I took her last week. (more…)
