What I Can Do to Help My Dog’s Immune System?
I get a stray about 20 months ago. She is a tremendous dog. We have completed all that needs to be done for a brand new dog, received her the shots, received her microchiped, had her mounted, purchase her good pet meals (nutro max). Instantly they stated she had a problem with Mites. He gave me a shampoo to use and things began wanting better. After her surgical procedure, they got slightly worse (4 or 5 extra spots) and we observed a small lump where her incision was. We took her in immediately and had been informed that she was having a reaction to the dissolving stitches and we had been despatched home. We also put her on Vectra 3-D (flea and tick medication). In the present day I went to the vet again. Yesterday that spot looked prefer it had a dime sized blood blister. Right now it had broken open. After I took her in he stated she had been licking the spot and had irritated it. she was put on antibiotics and we had been also instructed her immune system have to be the underlying drawback as a result of she isn’t able to get rid of the mites or quickly heal from the surgery (7 weeks in the past). She now has a cone on her head (which she will have to put on till it heals, maybe one other month or extra) I asked what I could do to help her immune system and he mentioned I could not do much. I feel like I should have the ability to do something to help her, however I am not aware of canines immune systems. Please help I need her to be healthy.

It sounds like you are doing everything right. Do you know people who seem to be sick often and have a hard time recuperating from surgeries and sickness? The same holds true for our animals. The best thing you can do is feed a good dog food which you are already doing. Your dog is very lucky to have you.
i hear u. : my dog,Pal, has had soooo many bad things happened 2 him. He broke his paw wen he was just a pup & got in many fights. He got a goathed stuck in his paw, walnut poisoning, a infection removed, and we just took him in not too long ago to get rid of the growths of his skin cancer. We luv him so much, and it sound like u luv ur dog too. (Pal is also in a cone
) u can actually buy vitamins to help her immune system… we have them. So good luck with everything, hope she gets better
First off, get her off the Nutro, this is NOT a good dog food and has had many complaints about it as well as recalls. The best way to boost the immune system is by feeding a high quality diet, and possibly supplementing with enzymes and/or probiotics (NuPro…not to be confused with NuTRO products…and NaturVet enzymes are from all I’ve seen and read very good products). Here are some diets that have a good range of probiotics and are high quality foods:
Instinct (by Nature’s Variety)
Orijen
Taste of the Wild
Blue Wilderness
Horizon Legacy
Wellness Core
Artemis brand dog foods
Before Grain
Fromm dog foods
Evanger’s Pheasant & Brown Rice Dry Dog Food
Nature’s Logic dog foods
Prairie (by Nature’s Variety, though I must warn this is a grain-heavy food)
Timber Wolf Organics
Artemis Holistic Dog Food
Blue Buffalo/Blue Organics
C & P’s dog foods
Dog immune systems are basically the same as human ones.
The same support you’d give yourself will work on dogs.
As in:
Proper nutrition – Get Pet Tabs or some other multi-vitamin made especially for animals. DO NOT use human formulations. Don’t over do the vitamin C or Zinc. They’re good, but dogs don’t metabolize them the same way people do. Just get a balanced vitamin.
No matter what food you feed, there’s always room for additional vitamins. And, um, Nutro isn’t the best thing you could be feeding. Look into a better one with no additives, preservatives, fillers, corn, wheat, by-products or animal digest.
Tea
If your dog will take it, offer green and black tea. It flushes the system, is filled with many beneficial compounds. Science is just beginning to understand the benefits of tea.
Proper sleep and exercize.
Self explanatory.
Reduce stress.
Again, you know this one. Learn what sets her off and avoid it. Training reduces stress.
Google holistic pet remedies. There are plenty out now.
If she has her shots and is taken care of well, I think she’ll be just fine! Give her healthy snacks like raw carrots and blueberries if she’ll eat them.
But the brand of food you are feeding, Nutro Max, isn’t really that great. I mean, it’s not as bad and Beneful or Pedigree, but it’s not the best either. I will suggest that you switch to a better brand if you don’t mind.
I feed the raw diet. It is the best you can feed most dogs. I suggest you look into it. Good luck with your dog!!!
