My Dogs anal glands “express” themselves and its wicked! The smell is aweful! The veterinarian explainded that this is normal. . But what is the purpose of anal glands in dogs? Gross I know LOL

But if your vet said it was normal for them to weather any further leakage deficating that when they are wrong and they need to express them to the dog, they can get really backed up and you do not want to to explode too much pressure! do not do it yourself, even if the veterinarian has to show you how, you can not do it correctly and you could even pop, this is one reason why they went to vet school! the cost for the vet to do that is inexpensive and they generally require that every 6-8 weeks! hope everything is ok, that’s not to mark his territory. . . That’s what they do when they urinate!
